How to Host a Successful Thanksgiving Dinner

Learn some tips on how to host a successful Thanksgiving dinner!

Tip #1 - Make a Game Plan

Think about (and write down!) who will be attending and what the menu will be, including drinks and desserts. Also take some time to plan out your grocery list and which stores you'll be purchasing which ingredients at.

Tip #2 - Buy & Defrost the Turkey in Advance

Turkeys are bought frozen and need a lot of time to defrost in the refrigerator, depending on the size. For example, a 20-pound turkey can feed 10-12 people, and takes about 4-5 days to completely defrost in the fridge.

"Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough" - Oprah Winfrey

Tip #3 - Set the Table the Night Before Dinner

Setting the table in advance gives you one less thing to do on the day of the dinner. Make sure you set out things like serving spoons and glasses as well!

Tip #4 - Always Accept Help

If a friend or family member offers to bring a dish, accept it! Or if you're in the kitchen preparing the food and someone offers to help, don't turn them down. You can even delegate certain people to bring certain dishes to cut down on your work load.

Tip #5 - Relax and Have Fun!

Remember that Thanksgiving is all about taking time to be thankful for friends and family, and spending time with those you love.
